It was advertised as a brilliant and charming French movie. An excellent comedy sharp and funny, colourful, romantic, sparkling, and intelligent – how could I resist? Humph, sadly I would not use many of those words to describe that movie. Yes, it was French, and I guess there was a certain amount of charm and romance, but I’ve got to say, it failed to live up to expectations.
You can’t always believe what you read; obviously, the film makers will describe their creation in glowing terms and independent reviews are always subjective. So, given that we can’t always rely on what we read, where does that leave us with our Bibles? That is a vastly different story, the Bible has repeatedly proven itself to be reliable – it has a track record. The Old Testament has many prophecies, many of which have already come true. When God says he will do something, we can believe that he will indeed deliver.
Lord thank you for your word and for your faithfulness to it. Help us always to trust and remember that it is in your time – not ours. Amen
