Most physical games have an umpire or referee. They hold the ultimate power in that game, when they blow their whistle or make a call, the game pauses, penalties are awarded the game resets. These powerful people are meant to view and judge with no bias or emotion; they are meant to make their calls based on what they observe, not what they feel.
What about God – does he judge us with no bias or emotion, basing his decision only on his observations of us? Thankfully no, God does not view us without emotion; his mercy and grace see us winners every time. We do not have to play perfectly to win – we just have to love God.
Let’s focus on thanking God for his mercy and grace and be grateful that our pathway to heaven does not rely on our sporting ability.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
