We were recently invited to a 70th birthday weekend away. Guests were coming from north and south and staying at a mid-point on the Victorian border, some guests staying in NSW others in Victoria. Day 1 of the festival went according to plan (with the exception of rain) and we enjoyed the morning’s golf, but by mid-afternoon things began to change …… COVID had struck again and the Victorian border was shutting down. Guests from Victoria quickly packed their things and departed. Those from NSW who were staying on the ‘wrong’ side of the highway had to quickly find accommodation across the road–general chaos really. It was a fantastically planned event, but things out of the organisers’ control took over.
So that was a good plan that didn’t go quite right. And then there is that other plan that went perfectly, a plan that was within the planner’s capacity to change, yet it went ahead following the script word-for-word. I refer of course to the blueprint for Jesus life on earth, and his death. Such an horrific plan that was perfectly executed. But that plan, even though indescribably horrible towards its conclusion really did have a wonderful ending. When Jesus rose again, the plan was complete.
Lord, thank you for your sacrifice, it has enabled us to live free of the burden of sin. Amen
