How wonderfully useful my email package is. If the words ‘attach’ or ‘attachment’ are mentioned in the text and I do not attach anything, a pop-up box is displayed with a message. Just a polite nudge, which I may choose to ignore or not depending upon the circumstances. Similarly, if I forget to enter a subject into the subject line it will give me a warning.
All these are helpful hints that can save us from ourselves, save us from making mistakes. We need to be open to God so that we can receive a similar type of message. About to say something mean and you get a nudge – ‘are you sure you want to say that?’ About to lose your temper and you get a nudge – ‘are you sure you want to lose control?’ That bit of time to decide before committing ourselves to an action could really keep us out of trouble. We know that God is there, we know that he has our best interests at heart. When he nudges us, we need to take notice, not complain about the elbow in our ribs.
