The dishes were just about finished, and I was looking forward to settling in for the night with my book club book (due to be discussed the next day) when the power went out. I stood there waiting for it to flicker back on, but no, it did not. The power stayed off for over four hours. The next day, apart from not being able to fully discuss the book, I had to reset our old-fashioned clock radio to the correct time, but pleasingly, the clocks on the computer and ovens were already correct.
Those electronic clocks have their own way of keeping track even when the power is off. They work away in the background keeping perfect time, even though with no power on there is no visible display. God is like that, he is constantly there working, nothing stops him. There may be times in your life where you can’t see him, but unlike electricity that can be disconnected, it is only our own spiritual blindness that shields him from our sight.
Lord, please open our eyes, our hearts, and our minds to you. Amen
