I was talking with one of my golfing friends who has just bought a new driver (biggest club in the bag). She is thrilled with it because it has ironed out her tendency to hit the ball to the right (technically known as slicing the ball, as well as other less printable terms). With her new club, the club head has been engineered to help the club face be squared up as the ball is impacted. This results in a much better chance of having a beautifully straight shot. Imagine that, a nice straight shot without a perfect hit.
The way that Jesus works in our lives is similar to that. He takes us and whilst we have our free will to do as we please, when we engage with him, his grace will allow our wayward shots to be forgiven. After confessing our transgressions to him, we find ourselves back on his straight path, walking with his light to guide the way.
Thank you God for your eternal love, patience, and forgiveness. You long to see us on the path of righteousness and will always help us to find the way. Amen
