I have a beautiful ‘take-away’ coffee cup with a very fancy spill-resistant lid. There is a push button that releases the seal and allows the coffee to flow; press it again and the perfect seal is recreated. The seven components of the lid can be taken apart for cleaning – and that is where my problem started. I did take it apart and gave it a good wash and had it on the kitchen bench for a few days before gathering the enthusiasm to put it back together. I found the YouTube video to step me through it; I must say, it did look amazingly simple and straight-forward. At least, if one of the small parts hadn’t disappeared it would have been a breeze.
How much fun is a take-away cup with no lid? It’s like having a golf ball but no club, a bike without pedals, a canoe without a paddle or, even worse, a life without God. I hate to think of living a life not knowing and acknowledging God; it would seem empty with no purpose. On the good news front, I did order a new lid and, in a similar way, if our relationship with God is not working, it too can be rectified, and the cost is way less than a new lid (+ postage).
Lord, we thank you that you are ready for us to be in a relationship with you. When we struggle, please show us the way so that our lives can be filled to overflowing with you in our hearts. Amen
