We have a bit of a soil mound just outside our fence where we put garden and lawn clippings, dead leaves, and weeds that have been pulled out. Back in December I noticed that a pumpkin vine was growing and had a few flowers. Over time, one of the flowers was pollinated and, sure enough, a pumpkin formed from it. This week I harvested it and cooked it for dinner – delicious. I do not know how the pumpkin seed got there, but none the less, up it came and off it went producing a very welcome crop.
We are all familiar with the concept of planting a spiritual or faith seed, and just like the pumpkin seed quietly found a home, so can faith seeds. If the way we speak to others and the way we behave shines God’s light, we may be sowing seeds at a great rate that will one day bloom into souls that have come to love God.
Lord, we are blessed to know you and we ask that you help us to shine your light so that others may share the wonder of your love. Amen
