I was cooking a slice the other day; it had a base, filling and topping. I followed the recipe and cooked the base and filling. I prepared the topping and then read that the topping had to be refrigerated 30 minutes before putting it onto the hot slice – great, my slice was already out of the oven and in 30 minutes time would not be hot any more.
The recipe really needed to start at the end step so that the topping would have been in the fridge for 30 minutes by the time the base and filling were ready for it. It made me think about the story of Jesus. Would it be better told starting from the end or from the beginning? I reckon it is a story that is so amazing it reads well regardless of where you start. All parts of it are intriguing and miraculous.
This week let us be grateful that we have access to and knowledge of such a magnificent story. Let’s be thankful that no matter where we start the tale, each bit stands on its own.
