Look at this lovely photo – one third of our linen cupboard has been tidied up. I have sorted, refolded, discarded, and rearranged. I am pleased with the result and wish I had taken a before snap. However, you can trust that it looked pretty horrible – too many things shoved in here and there, many of them not folded neatly and others in the wrong place. It is a wonderful feeling to have one third of my cupboard looking great; now I must tackle the other two thirds.
Decluttering and sorting our cupboards is one thing, but to really put a spring in your step, start to declutter the heart and mind as well. On a personal level, it is time for us to get rid of things that don’t bring us joy – resentment, envy, unforgiven sins and on it goes. Where something is cluttering your heart, it can interfere with your relationship with God. Jesus wants to take our worries and has already died so that our sins can be forgiven – give them to him so that you too may sing that all is well with my soul.
God, your word tells us that you will take our burdens. You died so that our sins may be forgiven, your grace has saved us. Help us to be as merciful and full of grace as you are. Amen
Jacqui
