Many years ago, you used to be able to get a contract to go and pick up used rail-way sleepers from cuttings around the ACT. The sites were a couple of hundred metres in from where you could park your vehicle. When we were involved with this activity, a group of men would go out and make a day of it. They worked in pairs, walking into the cutting, picking up a sleeper, one on each end, and then carry it back to the truck and load it on.
There was a fellow in the group who was very strong, a gentle giant in fact. He was able to throw a sleeper on each shoulder and stride off to the truck whistling a happy tune as he went. Everyone loved to go sleeper gathering with him; he was the right person to have on your team. He was willing and able to carry so much more than his share. Remind you of anyone?
Heavenly father, your strength and willingness to take our load is amazing. Thank you for being the rock we can rely on. Amen
