We have a beautiful weeping maple tree tucked into a corner of the garden quite close to the house. Whilst we were away earlier this year the outside of our place was being painted and some of the branches of the tree were in the way. The painters broke the offending branches off so they could complete their task. Of course, we were very upset about the harsh and thoughtless way our tree had been treated, but apart from complaining there was nothing we could do.
Over the course of the last six months, however, the tree has started to grow some new branches back towards the house. They are quite fine and short, but they are definitely there, and it looks as though over time the beautiful balance of the tree will be restored.
Broken things can be mended, and time and time again that is what God does for us. He mends us, he makes us whole he restores us and our surrounds.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your willingness to renew us.
