Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 6:11-21.
‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.’ (Verse 17-18)
Have you ever wondered how much money it will cost to be able to live a good life once you are in heaven? I mean, how much will a decent house set you back and what about the other utilities? Silly, isn’t it? We all know that in heaven there is a totally different currency; one of love, grace, and compassion. On Earth material possessions are part of our lives but it is important that we keep our desire for material things under control, after all, you never see a hearse with a trailer attached, carrying the riches of the deceased. We know that money does not equal happiness and we know that possessions do not equal contentment. The way to a happy and fulfilled life is just as Paul wrote to Timothy; God richly provides, we do not need more than we need.
Heavenly father, thank you for your wonderful creation of our earth. We pray that we will be worthy of the trust you have put in us to look after it. Amen
