Our granddaughter has a new soft toy. It is a beautiful caterpillar, made of vibrant fabrics with a range of textures and built in sounds. As well as giving her something to play with, it is designed to stimulate her senses. You will never guess what her favourite part of the toy is – the label. She just loves chewing it. She totally ignores all other aspects of the toy; all that lovely bright and flashy fabric – of no interest. That saying about whatever screams the loudest gets the attention cannot be applied here.
The same however, cannot be said for coronavirus – it is screaming very loudly and is certainly getting a lot of attention. Even though we do need to take notice of it we also need to remember that not everything that is worthy of our attention is loud and aggressive.
God, through his Holy Spirit is mostly very softly spoken – his is nonetheless a voice we should all be listening out for. At all times let us make sure we find enough quiet time to listen to God as he softly whispers our name.
Lord, thank you for giving us hearts that want to know you. Please bless the time we spend with you.
