Well, the federal election is over for another few years, the victors and the vanquished settling into their new roles. The thing that is best about our Australian election process is that every eligible person has an opportunity (and in fact a legal obligation) to participate in the process. There are many countries in the world where citizens long to be part of a fair and regulated process to elect a government. That is why I was annoyed last week when speaking to a young lady who told me quite nonchalantly that she wouldn’t be voting because she had not registered to do so.
There are opportunities for all sorts of things in life – well done to those people who recognise and grab them. Apart from not registering to vote, another chance that many ignore is the chance to know and love God. When you take that step to let him into your heart, life becomes a different and much better prospect.
Lord, we all know people who don’t yet know you. Help us to help them to see you beautiful shining light. Amen
