Recently I baked and iced a cake for a morning tea that I was attending. It looked delicious and whilst half of my attention was admiring it the other half was putting away a jar of sugar. I accidentally struck the bottom of a jar against the bench. What a mess, shattered glass and sugar all over the floor – I was left holding the top half of the jar. Now while I was fairly sure that all of the glass had fallen onto the floor and not the cake, I couldn’t get rid of the thought of some glass hiding on the cake – imagine harming someone The cake had to go into the bin, and I had to start again.
Doing what we know we ought to do is not always easy, but when all is said and done, all I had to sacrifice were a few ingredients and some of my time. Really hardly worth even mentioning when we think about the sacrifice that has been made on our behalf to keep us safe.
Lord, you gave your all for us. The cost to you was your life, the reward for us, eternal safety. We thank you for your selfless sacrifice and pray that we are worthy of it. Amen
