We were staying near the Air Force Base at Williamtown and heard that nine of Australia’s Joint Strike Fighter jets had been on a training run and were due to land in the next half hour. We were very keen to have a look and listen so went along. The sight and sound of those aircraft doing a low pass in formation and then landing in quick succession was incredible. They are sleek mean looking machines that can travel at greater than the speed of sound. The noise they make is deafening, their might and power right there for everyone to see. If I were in a war zone and heard these jets approaching, I would be either extremely terrified or extremely pleased, depending upon whose side they were on.
The might and power of God is actually unequalled by any man-made thing. When he came to earth, however, he was humble; neither loud nor proud. And yet, of all the things I want on my side, it is God – the most valuable and everlasting asset that anyone can have.
God, you are almighty, king above all kings and Lord of all. We thank you for your generous invitation to be in your family. Amen
