Hey – look at this, a cup-tree. Do you believe the tree is growing china teacups?  Of course not, it is clear that the tree is merely hosting the cups and in doing so, brightening up a winter’s day. It is easy to spot the reality or otherwise of some things but, not everything is as obvious as a cup-tree. We do well to remember that all  that glitters is not gold. Some things or people do trick us into thinking they are special but as we know, you can’t take everything at face value.

If you want to know for sure that what you see is what you get then turn to God because there is no pretence about him or his promises. He does not present himself as anything other than what he is – after all, what could be better than the reality of what he is?
