A friend bought her husband an expensive watch for his 60th birthday. He has had no end of trouble with that watch and it is now out of warranty and will cost a lot to have it repaired. On the other hand (but ironically the same arm), her husband bought a very cheap watch from a junk shop to wear whilst working outside and it has not missed a beat in five years; as well as that it is very presentable.
So that old saying ‘You get what you pay for’ is quite incorrect this time. It also doesn’t work when you think about what we get through Christ’s sacrifice – he paid the price so that we didn’t have to. We are getting way more than we paid for.
I pray that I am worthy of the price.
