Over the summer months when the golf course was very dry, the ground became rock hard and consequently the result of each golf shot became more interesting. The ball, once it hit the ground, instead of pulling up after a couple of metres, continued to roll for up to 50 metres. Sometimes this resulted in the ball being closer to the flag than it otherwise would have been – happy days – but other times the result was not nearly as pleasing: ball into the bunker, into the water or into the tree line. The condition of the ground that sometimes resulted in a positive impact at other times had an adverse one.
However, there is one condition that has the same impact on anyone who is lucky enough to experience it. That is, the condition of being in a relationship with God, which will always have a positive impact on us – there are no downsides to a relationship with God.
Heavenly Father we thank you that you invite us to be in a relationship with you. The sacrifice of Jesus has made you available to us all.
