Bible Reading: Matthew 16: 18-20
‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’ (Verse 29)
I really admire those who heed the call to become missionaries and go off overseas to developing countries to spread the word about God’s love. The missionaries travel to far off villages and go without the creature comforts we are accustomed to and as well as that, their personal security can never really be guaranteed. Jesus sent his disciples out to make more disciples and that is our calling too. Now for the good news, for those who cannot or do not want to travel to far off lands, we can become disciples right here at home, in our Church or our workplaces, neighbourhoods, within our social and sporting groups. In your own communities. Take every opportunity to mention the name of Jesus, you never know what seed you are planting or in fact watering.
Father, help me to be courageous and bold, to work on earth for your kingdom, to speak your name and to share your love amongst all people. Amen.
