‘2020 – Can’t wait to see the end of it’ ‘Let’s slam the door on 2020’, ‘Good riddance to bad rubbish’ and many more insults directed towards 2020 – the year that tested us all. Yes, there were plenty of tragedies and hardships, but along with them also came some great and often unexpected things. I can think of several blessings that I have experienced, and it was all due to the pandemic. Things like being forced to slow down, saving money as we did not travel, getting into projects around the home. Time to contemplate and dream.
At a global level, there has been amazing co-operation amongst countries, collaboration as great and persistent minds sought to develop a vaccine. There has been incredible kindness and support shown to those who are doing it tough.
With this, my last devotion for six weeks, I leave you with my favourite Bible verse, which speaks to how I feel we should be thinking about 2020.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Wishing you and your loved ones all the best for a blessed Christmas and a peaceful and successful 2021.
