A.C.T. MENTAL HEALTH MONTH 2021
During Mental Health Month the community is united to come together to increase awareness of mental health to have better mental health for all. I believe there is great connection in mental, emotional and spiritual health to have a great well-being.
I am an ambassador for Mental Health Month 2021 through Mental Health Community Coalition and during the month will have the opportunity to provide a positive perspective of recovery, challenges and resilience through my living experiences.
The Mental Health Community Coalition has the theme “Navigate Your Mental Health”. For me this is about finding a path forward and travelling it with people who are encouraging. It is important to surround yourself with people who build you up and who will not judge you when you are hurting. I reflect on 1 Thessalonians 5:11: –
Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing.
God wants us to be healthy. When we are healthy we can better fulfill God’s purpose for our lives, and we can share the gospel. In order to be truly healthy, we must take care of all aspects of our being, whether we suffer from a mental illness or not. Stress and isolation are a challenge for many at this time, learning to deal with stress is essential to mental health care. Beside knowing that we are not alone, we always have God and Christ with us.
I also like to think of Proverbs 17:22.: – A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
Learn to enjoy life, and don’t take life too seriously. Laughter can be a great way to reduce stress. Do something to make yourself and others laugh.
